«I have always wanted to make a film where love is not the hero’s reward but the core conflict of the whole story,» says director Simon Kaijser da Silva; «where love is a healing force but also potentially destructive.» In his feature film debut, da Silva and screenwriter Pernilla Oljelund craft a story about true love built on a foundation of lies. And what better actors to bring it to life than internationally acclaimed Scandinavian stars Mikael Persbrandt (of Susanne Bier’s Academy Award-winning In a Better World, which screened in competition at the Festival last year) and Iben Hjejle (of Stephen Frears’s High Fidelity and Lars von Trier’s The Boss of It All), who deliver emotionally intense performances in this sophisticated story of tragedy and rebirth.

One fateful morning, Johan (Persbrandt) is driving to work through his well-to-do Stockholm suburb. It’s a day like any other. Then in a heartbeat a little girl is smashed against his windshield. Life will never be the same. The girl is Tove, the 10-year-old daughter of Anna (Hjejle) and Anders (Henrik Norlen). When Tove dies in the hospital, Johan is there to witness her parents receiving the bad news. The courts clear him of any wrongdoing, but Johan can’t acquit himself. A year goes by before he and Anna, both deeply scarred and still strangers, meet by chance at the Stockholm East train station.

Driven to make amends, Johan strikes up a friendship with Anna. During their mourning, both have grown distant from their partners, so they’re surprised to find that they can so easily pour their hearts out to each other. Clandestine meetings for coffee and conversation soon accelerate into a passionate affair, but only Johan knows the awful secret that has bound their lives together forever.

Having read this I thought it was really informative. I appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this
information together. I once again find myself personally spending a significant
amount of time both reading and commenting. But so what, it was still worth
    it!
